Mega Man Powered Up for PSP is a very strange game that for the most part, probably won't appeal to anyone except those who are fans of previous Mega Man games. To be short, it's an enhanced remake of the original NES Mega Man/Rockman 1, but with updated graphics, newly written story, and many playable characters such as the all the original Robot Masters. The game also allows you to create your own stages and send them online to others, and download special content such as characters like Roll, Protoman and many special costumes for Roll. The controls can get some getting used to in comparison to other Mega Man games and especially Maverick Hunter X (which came out the same time as Powered Up). They feel a bit slippery and loose when trying to move around, and the jumping seems a bit too low for a few of the platforms to reach, making the difficulty a bit higher than what it should be. Also, some Robot Masters aren't tuned up as good as they should, and have a hard time defeating some of the other bosses and stages because of this. All in all Mega Man Powered up is a really great game for those who are fans of the franchise or want something cute and entertaining for their PSP.Read full review
...this is a fun game. The graphics took a bit of getting used to; I don't really understand the drive to update old platformers with semi-3D graphics (see also the new Ghosts & Goblins remake for PSP). However, the PSP suffers from a lack of good games, especially platformers - so Mega Man Powered Up is a welcome addition! It's quite difficult, but if you enjoyed the old NES games you should really expect that :-) The sound effects are a little on the irritating side (very tired of hearing Mega Man grunt every time he jumps), but the gameplay is still solid. That said - I do with that the PSP would follow the example set by Nintendo. The platform games and remakes for the DS have been truly excellent - and the new Mega Man ZX blows this one out of the water...
Its mega man one, but powered up. Just like the title says. Graphics are kick ass, and the game play is smooth. Like ALL mega man games, you play the levels, beat bosses, get their abilities then have to beat all the bosses again at the end of the game. Kinda sucks. But the ability to play as other bosses is a great option, and being able to post your own levels, and download others is great. The game is a great portable game, play a level or so then pause till next time. Game is worth it.
Don't let the cute look fool you this game is hardcore and very awesome. It goes without saying that this is a must own for Mega Man(Rock Man) fans, a must! The game is jammed with so much content. Tons of extra characters, tons of side missions, the original Mega Man 1 in 3-D and a level creator. The level creator is fairly deep and allows you to make some pretty big and deep levels. You could spend hundreds of hours alone just making levels. Plus you can share and download other people's stages. Oh and if you're worried the level creator may be to complex no fear it's very very simple to use! While there is lot's of hard content in the game there are easy modes for less advanced players. This makes the game very playable for non gamers. Only downside is some slowdown here and there but it doesn't get in the way much. Also while the art style may put off some people it's used rather well in game.Read full review
Mega Man Powered Up is an instant classic. It has a fun plot to it and the character animations are great. It is a remake of the original Mega Man for the NES with 2 versions. The old version to stay true to older players of the game and the new version, complete with 2 new unlockable playable bosses, Oilman and Timeman. With 3 different difficulty settings for each stage, it can really be a challenge. All the stages can be played with any boss, making it a whole different obstacle, and with a boss character you can even fight Mega Man?. Game is fun for all ages, a great chance to play a game you may have played 20 years ago in a new light, or maybe one you have never had the chance.
